In Loving Memory of W.K. Mistral +/
February 22,1982 –October 6,2011
Our dear friend and guardian,Windy Knoll Mistral +/,passed away naturally and peacefully in his retirement pasture with his best buddies on October 6,2011. Mistral was in his 30th year and full of his usual love and generosity of spirit.
In his 24 years with us,Mistral was our “go-to” horse for endurance rides,pleasure rides,parade color guards,state park patrols and personal therapy sessions in rough times. He cheerfully carried us on 4,660 endurance miles during his 18 year career,winning several multi-day BC’s,earning two Tevis buckles,and placing 10th lightweight in the AERC western region in 1993. He participated in the 1989,1990,2001 and 2004 cross country XP rides and completed his last multi-day ride at Grand Canyon in 2005 as a 23 year old.
Mistral was bred and raised by Judy and Murray Cannedy of Windy Knoll Arabians in Lincoln,California. Dr. Richard Barsaleau recognized Mistral’s potential,prepared him as an endurance horse prospect,and sold him as a bright and eager five year old to us in 1987. We were honored to become his partners. Thank you Mistral. You will always be in our hearts.
